  1. The Lenovo ThinkPad T440p can be configured in many different ways through Lenovo's web shop. Is integrated in the M.2 slot, and has a price in the online store of 42 Euros ($60).
  2. Unknown to most people, the Thinkpad T440p is a classic business laptop made in November 2013 (5 years!) by Lenovo. It's one of the most customizable Thinkpad T Series I've ever seen! Let's see how we can mod and upgrade a used T440p to build a cheap but powerful laptop (about 500€ ) that can match nowadays high-end laptop performance.

Hi everyone!

Lenovo Thinkpad T440p M.2 Slot Drivers

My son is upgrading his work laptop from a T440p to a T470 and is tossing the T440p to me, (see, if ya raise them right.. ).
I'm planning a few mods, (my son is a dev, but left the machine 'stock'), mainly the screen and touchpad. I also want to upgrade the drive to either a 128gb M.2 with a 1 TB drive for data in the main HDD slot, or 128 2.5 SSD and swap out the CD/DVD for a caddy to hold the 1 TB drive.
I've been looking at the specs and I can't find any information on the M.2 speeds for a SSD. Is it better to get a regular 2.5 SSD for this machine or will the M.2 provide faster throughput? Theoretically, the M.2 should be faster, but as I said, I can't find any details.
Thanks!

zogHello,
I have been planning to add a 240GB/256GB SSD to the spare M.2 Slot on my motherboard (2242) - T440P
I have narrowed down my options to some options:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Transcend-TS24 .. ers&sr=1-2
https://www.amazon.co.uk/KingDian-240GB .. ers&sr=1-7
https://www.amazon.co.uk/XuBa-Solid-Lap .. rs&sr=1-57
The XuBA Drive and Kingdian drives are £10 cheaper than the transcend, and all m.2 2242's with SATA 3 interface are more expensive than standard SSD's.

I just want to check: A) will all three of these drives work, or will i face dificulties with them working?

Lenovo Thinkpad T440p M.2 Ssd

and B) is thr transcend that much better than the cheaper ones? They are all low cost brands as far as U know?

Thanks very much.
